Always Locally Grown and Pesticide Free

We source exclusively within 100 miles of our studio, from our gardens and other nearby individual growers employing only responsible pest, weed, and soil management practices and OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) listed inputs. We believe this is desirable for all the same reasons that eating clean, locally grown food is: a lighter carbon footprint, healthier communities, and fresher and safer products that reflect the season and landscape.

We are constantly expanding our community of growers. Here are a few who make our work possible:

Timeless Design

We design all arrangements in our simple, natural, and balanced signature style showcasing exclusively locally grown and pesticide free flowers and textures to complement the season, landscape, and occasion. We believe the result is always beautiful and timeless.

Environmental and Social Responsibility

Our commitment to energy and water conservation, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and community outreach is recognized by The California Green Business Network and informs every detail of our business. All of our gift and event vases are made in the USA and may be returned for a lighter carbon footprint and credit towards more flowers (schedule an appointment here). Our zero waste studio is free from the toxic glues, petroleum foams, paints, and single use items that are so pervasive in the floral industry. Our local sourcing allows us to get to know our growers and prioritize support for those who advance our shared values and represent the diversity of our community. We are proud to be designing products, processes, and sourcing practices to support a future that is more sustainable and healthy for us, our growers, our community, and the environment.

Fair, Competitive Pricing

Over the course of over 10 years in business we have continually honed our systems of sourcing, design, storage, and transportation to save time, space, and resources. The resulting efficiency allows us to purchase the highest quality, locally grown flowers while still providing competitive pricing to our customers.

Sticky Monkey Flower

Our Namesake

Yes! There really is a monkey flower.

As a kid, founder Jaime Giorgi’s climbing tendencies earned her the nickname “Monkey”. This made a local wildflower, the sticky monkey flower, her special plant.

She named The Monkey Flower Group to honor the diverse genus, Mimulus, which includes over 150 species of monkey flowers. Like the exclusively locally grown flowers and textures composing our arrangements, some are carefully bred and cultivated for decorative purposes and others are wild and beautifully adapted to California’s climate.

Our People

Wife and husband owners Jaime Giorgi and Ben King met in college (at a sustainable meat conference – how's that for a meet cute?) where they both studied anthropology and economics with a focus on agriculture. Together they form the small and dedicated team at The Monkey Flower Group.

Jaime worked for flower, compost, alpaca, and chicken farms before founding The Monkey Flower Group in her hometown of Napa in 2010. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, knitting and spinning (wool not stationary bikes), and fawning over her bantam chickens and homing pigeons.

Ben worked for produce sellers, produce growers, and Napa County Health and Human Services before joining The Monkey Flower Group full time in 2015. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, reading spy novels, and drawing and painting using traditional techniques. He has a huge soft spot in his heart for his hometown of Saint Paul, Minnesota, but is continually won over by the natural beauty of Napa.
